Thomas Gaynor
From Wellington Cathedral of St Paul
Richard Prothero Organ Scholar, Wellington Cathedral of St Paul
Thomas first discovered pleasure in music-making at the age of 10, when he started piano lessons. He began organ lessons when he was 13 years old. By the age of 15, he had earned Grade Eight ABRSM in both instruments. He currently studies organ at the New Zealand School of Music under Douglas Mews, and piano with Judith Clark CNZM, under whose tutelage he won first prize in the Recital Class at the Piano Plus competition in 2007.
Thomas leads a busy schedule, being both Richard Prothero Organ Scholar and a member of the Cathedral Choir. He enjoys the occasional opportunity to relieve organists of their duties at a number of churches around the Wellington region. He has also played recitals in churches around the Wellington and Wairarapa regions.
Thomas is currently a student at both Wellington College and the New Zealand School of Music. As well as music, he has an interest in modern and classical languages.
